Rr

All the girls made rabbit masks and all the boys made raccoon masks. Then we had a rrrace to see who could pick up the pictures of things that start with Rr the fastest.

This week we also had rrrrhyming day. See if you can guess the rhyming items these students brought:

Can you believe we did even more Rr things? We played charades with these words: reach, read, rip, ride bike, roar, rub, race, run.
AAAAAnd we glued rice on the letter R. Whew! What a day!

Dd

D is for dollar store, where the students could choose to buy a deer, dog, duck, or dinosaur. This was such a big hit that I let the students keep the dollar store up for another week.

D is for dots we put upon the letter Dd.

D is for "Dive as I'm diving" and "Dig as I'm digging" and many more (dust, dance, drink, draw, drive, drum) all sung to "Do as I'm doing"

D is for dominos. Each child was so excited to make and keep their own. I provided the Sculpy clay and we shaped them in class and I cooked them at home.

And D is also for everyone's favorite..... the freeze dance!

Ff

We played the feel game. A student was selected to stick their hand in a bag and guess what the Ff object was. There were 4 bags: funnel, fork, feather, fur.

In a ziplock bags we combined a few ingredients to make fudge. Some of the poor, deprived children said they had never tasted fudge before! What a memorable day this was! You can find the recipe here. (Take note, you have to mix it for like 15 minutes. I seriously thought it wasn't working after about 8 minutes and almost gave up.)
During centers we glued FFFFive FFFeathers to the letter F:

We also went fishing during centers and played the flower matching game.

Reptile visit

Thanks to lots of donations from the parents this year, we were able to receive a visit from 3 reptiles from the Bean Life Science museum. The kids were in awe the whole time! I strongly encourage you to go visit the museum with your child to see a free show. Here's the friends who came to visit us:

Duke the iguana:

Everyone got to pet the iguana. Ask your child how it felt.

Houdini the turtle:
A turtle's skeleton is built into the shell.
  Cuddles the snake:
Everything was calm and smooth until he put the snake on the ground. Then the kids started to squirm.

The presenter also brought a crocodile skull...
and skin...
or was that from an alligator???
