i heart valentines day!

The most sought after holiday in school: Valentines Day!
this one is my FAVORITE:
Double dose of candy.... oh what a day!

trucks and ducks stuck in the muck

Learning to rhyme makes kids better readers and spellers. This last week we played with words in the "-uck" family. Our culminating art project was trucks and ducks stuck in the muck. Yuck!!! This was a REALLY fun one! The muck is made of glue, paint and shaving cream. Each student got to select the number of ducks and trucks they wanted stuck and write a sentence about them independently.
And here's our class list of -uck words:

Beauty in the World

This isn't really related to kindergarten, but this is the stuff I LOOOVE to see in school (so 5 senses learning appropriate!)

Zuuuumba!

The kids did Zumba in PE the other day. Not everyone was into it, but here is what I got to see:
All the kids who are dancing with the teacher will be receiving an A in kindergarten

That was a joke. The kids in the background are still getting their exercise!

PJ DAY!

The most embarrassing thing that happened on this day was this comment:
"Mrs. Lee, my dad has the same pajamas as you"

100 days of cool!

We have all survived 100 days of school and that's worth celebrating!
We made a book of 100 wishes
We glued our 100 day collection in groups of 10
We counted 100 steps down the hall (forward AND backward!)
We put 100 dots on our glasses
 We were serious learners

100 days smarter

Tomorrow will be our 100th day in school! This is pretty much a holiday for our class- it's a big deal to survive 100 days of education! And now for some things you may not have known:
Counting to 100 can be accomplished by most of the kindergarteners, but writing and recognizing numbers to 100 can be quite difficult and usually won't be mastered until 1st grade. But we do have some great technology to help us...

The -og family

Learning word families help kids to rhyme, spell and read better. We just finished working with words that have an "og" ending. Here's just some of the fun...

The frog and hog on the log
Making sentences with -og words
Making fog art with our 4th grade buddies
And here's how I got the awesome idea for our fog art
I was so impressed with the end result: "The dog in the fog" and "The frog in the fog"
